At Eaton High School, students in the agriculture program have opportunities to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to real-world experiences through Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects.
SAE projects allow students to explore agriculture through hands-on work while developing skills in responsibility, problem-solving, entrepreneurship and career readiness. Sophomore, Kale Winter, is one example of how students can turn an idea into a real agricultural experience.
This summer, Kale worked alongside his dad and Valley Irrigation to get Eaton High School’s pivot up and running. With the pivot operational, Kale used it to grow corn as part of his SAE project. But the experience didn't stop in the field- Kale was able to harvest and sell his corn, giving members of the Eaton community the opportunity to enjoy the results of his hard work.
Kale’s project is a great example of the hands-on, career-connected learning opportunities available at Eaton High School. Students aren't simply learning about agriculture, they're gaining experience, building skills and seeing firsthand what it takes to turn an agricultural project into something that can benefit their community!
